Her practice integrates neuroscience and neurobiology, using relationship and play to regulate the nervous system and build meaningful connections with children and the adults who care for them.

She is a strong advocate for the voice of the child. Alongside her therapeutic practice, Charlotte supports parents and professionals in understanding what is happening for a child and what is required to meet their best interests — including through the preparation of court reports.

Therapeutic Practice

Charlotte's therapeutic practice is integrative and child-centred, drawing on psychotherapy, play therapy, neuroscience and interpersonal neurobiology to support children and families. She works with children aged 4 to 18 in individual and family therapy, and her practice encompasses complex trauma, attachment difficulties, foster care, special educational needs and court-related work.

She uses play as a primary medium for building therapeutic relationships and for eliciting and understanding the child's inner world. Her training in neuroscience and neurobiology directly informs how she uses relationship and play to regulate the nervous system and support healing.

  • Individual therapy and family therapy for children aged 4 to 18.
  • Directing family-centred, strengths-based assessments and care plans.
  • Developing goal-oriented psychoeducational activities to support parents.
  • Expert testimony for legal consultations and court hearings.
  • Preparation of comprehensive court reports.
  • Collaborative working with parents, foster carers, social workers and other significant adults.

Complex Trauma, Attachment and Neuroscience

Charlotte has trained with internationally recognised leaders in the fields of trauma, attachment and neuroscience, including Dr Bruce Perry, Dr Bessel van der Kolk and Dr Daniel Siegel. This training, combined with her clinical experience, gives her a sophisticated, science-informed understanding of the impact of trauma and adversity on children's development, relationships and behaviour.

Her approach reaches the highest level of child psychotherapy practice in working from a neutral, non-judgemental standpoint, and is particularly suited to mediating complex situations and supporting children who have experienced significant adversity.

ACEs Project and Foster Care

Since 2022, Charlotte has been providing psychotherapy services through a contract with Tusla and the HSE under the Children's Services Multiple Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Project, supported by the European Union's INTERREG VA Programme. All of her clients within this project are children in foster care.

This work, combined with her broader experience supporting children in care, gives Charlotte a deep and practice-grounded understanding of the needs of looked-after children and the systems and relationships that surround them.
